One of the most innovative educational projects that we have organised is the ‘Aprenentatge i Servei Badia de Portmany’, an educational programme designed to create awareness and promote environmental initiatives for improving the Bay.

This project is run by the Board of Education of the Balearic Islands Government with our collaboration, and it is designed for students from adult and secondary educational centres.
Throughout the Balearic archipelago, the only projects that use an APS methodology (Aprendizaje y Servicio – or learning and service) are the Serra de Tramuntana in Majorca and the Portmany Bay. This method has an innovative training vision that integrates learning of contents, skills and values along with service to the community, all in the same educational project. The ultimate aim is to offer a service that will directly transform and improve society.
The Board of Education is concerned with assessing all the schools in the process of setting up the project, and ensuring that educational material related to the Portmany Bay is created, and certifying 40 hours of ongoing training to teachers. Club Nàutic Sant Antoni is responsible for facilitating training and support for the participating schools, concerned with knowledge and conservation of the natural environment of the bay. It also organises activities and educational trips linked to the values of the marine and land environments, and contributes to the creation of an APS community that will promote the study, dissemination, training and development of experiences, such as implementing territorial networks that will facilitate conservation of the bay.
In turn, participating schools have a minimum of three teachers attached to the programme, whose tasks include coordinating and organising their particular project, and drawing up a final report.
