Sailing academy

Our sailing academy has classrooms, yachts, state of the art technology and a team of professional teachers who will ensure that you gain your sailing certificate.

Qualifications

With the training received at our Sailing Academy you can obtain your Sailing Licence, Basic Skipper’s sailing licence or Yacht Skipper and Captain’s licences as well as other professional qualifications for pleasure yacht skipper, safety, radio operation, etc.

Sailing licence

The sailing licence formerly known as the titulín is a certificate that can be easily earned, nevertheless it is still quite demanding. You will receive your certificate the same day as you complete the practical examination.

Basic navigation skipper’s licence

The PNB is a recreational qualification that enables coastal sailing with a certain degree of breadth and autonomy. It qualifies the holder to sail by day or at night, however with certain restrictions on mileage and types of vessel.

Recreational boat skipper’s licence

The PER qualification has some new attributions which came into force in 2015 which qualifies the holder to make longer sailing trips further afield on completion of extra practices of 24 hours.

Yacht skipper

Yacht skipper is a certificate that opens the door to higher sailing qualifications and completion of the course is a compulsory bridge to the yacht captain qualification.

The Yacht Captain qualification means you have unlimited freedom to sail, however there are particular characteristics regarding depth and movement of the vessels that you can command.

Short range radio operator

VHF communication which includes learning how the equipment and channels work and how to operate the radio in different situations that may arise while sailing.

Professional skipper of recreational vessels

We should bear in mind that the Professional Skipper’s licence for recreational vessels is not a nautical qualification as such but more a question of acquiring the skills to work legally on recreational boats.

Basic Safety Training

The Basic Training Speciality Certificate in Maritime Safety is the minimum qualification required and it is needed by all personnel who are part of a boat crew and who work as seagoing professionals.
